President Cyril Ramaphosa has received a courtesy call from Prince William at Genadendal, the official residence of the President in Cape Town on Tuesday.
The Prince of Wales is in South Africa to host the 4th Annual Earthshot Prize Awards Ceremony which is taking place in Cape Town on November 6, 2024.

According to a statement from the Presidency, Ramaphosa and Prince William held discussions on a number of key issues of mutual interest.
The Presidency said that Prince William’s visit is a sign of the strong ties that the United Kingdom, including the Royal Family has with South Africa, and is also step towards the deepening of these historic ties.

Earthshot Prize
The Earthshot Prize shines a light on the impact of climate change, environmental degradation and pollution, as well as the solutions people and communities across the globe create, according to a statement from the Presidency.
“South Africa is pleased to be the host country for this year’s awards, especially because of the focus this initiative places on the impact climate change and environmental degradation has on the African Continent,” the Presidency said.
The Presidency said that the awards have created local jobs and offered an opportunity for artists and designers in the country to showcase their talent.
