Absa's internet banking customers can now access their Absa investment portfolios at no additional cost via the bank's internet banking portal.
Currently, only investment products from Absa Fund Managers, Absa Investment Management Services (AIMS) and Absa Stockbrokers Online Share Trading will be available, but the service will be extended to other investments and services within the Absa Group next year.
The bank's goal is to offer Absa clients the ability to view a consolidated portfolio of banking and financial services in a single showing and to be able to do transactions on the site.
The service, called MyAbsa, enables clients to access details of their investment portfolios and a wide range of market statistics and financial news.
Clients can use the MyAbsa section of the Absa internet banking site to link to AIMS products. They can choose which of their Absa investments they want displayed on their MyAbsa portfolio.
Alan Miller, the managing executive of AIMS, says: "Initially, clients will see details of their investments at current market valuations. They can already transact online with Absa Stockbrokers. The next stage will be to extend this transactional capability to Absa Fund Managers and AIMS. Ultimately, our customers will be able to buy and sell investments across our spectrum of investment products."
