The Springbok Sevens side made their intentions clear right from the start of the Rugby World Cup Sevens in San Francisco on Saturday morning when they thrashed Ireland 45-7.
The reigning back-to-back World Sevens Series champions were the favourites heading into the match against Ireland.
And the South Africans were simply on another level in their first match of the tournament as they managed to keep the Irish – who played Chile earlier in the day – scoreless until the very end.
The Blitzboks had all the say in the first half and got the points to prove it when playmaker Justin Geduld sniped through after a quick tap and pass by Selvyn Davids.
They crossed the try line again when the South Africans did well to suck the Irish defenders in before swinging it wide for Siviwe Soyizwapi to run in (12-0).
Shortly afterwards, Geduld sparked some magic when he intercepted a pass and showed dazzling feet to set Soyizwapi up for his second.
Werner Kok got things off to a firing start after Dylan Sage gathered the ball from kickoff before passing to the the electric flyer, who dashed down touch to get the points.
Geduld visited Ireland’s in-goal area again when Sage tapped the ball back after kickoff before they took the ball through the hands and set up the rainbow-haired playmaker.
The Blitzboks hurt the Irish after the kickoff again when Soyizwapi ran in his hat trick in a way that almost made it look just too easy (38-0) after Rosko Specman created some magic.
Shortly afterwards he took his try tally to four (45-0) when he scored a converted try.

The triumph takes the Blitzboks into the championship quarter-finals, with their next game against Scotland scheduled for 3.32pm San Francisco time on Saturday (12.32am SA time on Sunday morning).
