After what feels like an eternity, “Euphoria“, the drama series, helmed by Zendaya, is finally gearing up for a third season.

HBO has announced that filming for the latest instalment of the hit show will start in January 2025.

This follows a rocky hiatus and an indefinite production delay that had fans at the edge of their seats.

And with the cameras rolling nearly three years after the explosive second season wrapped up, we might see season 3 hit our screens in early 2026.

This is if production follows a similar timeline as with previous seasons when it took about 10 months to go from filming to premiere.

Meanwhile, the principal cast, including Zendaya, Sydney Sweeney, Jacob Elordi, Hunter Schafer and Alexa Demie, are all set to return.

If season three premières in around 18 months time, it will mark a four-year gap since season two. This means that the cast will have aged from teenagers, which points to a possible time jump for their characters.

This extended break hasn’t been easy. The writers’ and actors’ strikes in 2023 threw a wrench in the production schedule.

Maude Apatow, who plays Lexi Howard, revealed that it has delayed the start of filming. In addition, the devastating loss of Angus Cloud, who played Fezco, added to the heartache.

Cloud tragically passed away from an accidental overdose, leaving fans mourning a character whose story ended on one of the show’s biggest cliffhangers.

But the delay wasn’t all bad news. It gave the cast members time to spread their wings. Zendaya, Sweeney and Elordi have starred in a combined total of 13 movies since season two ended. But now, it’s time to return to where it all began.

The cast has also seen its fair share of drama off-screen. Barbie Ferrera, who played Kat Hernandez, announced she wouldn't be returning due to creative differences with showrunner Sam Levinson.

Fans have since taken to X to share their mixed feelings about “Euphoria’s” return.

This included @MoreAiya😐 who posted: “I'm not sure how I feel... I kind of just wish the series ended. There's too much of a gap between seasons. Also, with Angus passing away, it just feels weird and wrong.”

@moneydragontv added: “Starting production 2 years after season 2 finished airing is crazy work 😭.”

@Millenium__Girl commented: “I can not wait ! Rue is probably THE fictional character I can most easily identify with and I'm so happy to tell that we're going to see her again.”
