Johannesburg - The lifting of Covid-19 pandemic protocols has made things easier and more thrilling for local artists, and, as a result, the South African entertainment industry witnessed many local artists take over global stages, introducing their locally-made music classics to the world.
A few days ago, famous rapper Refiloe “Cassper Nyovest’” Phoolo excitedly announced that he was jetting off to the United Kingdom, where he later revealed that he met some of his idols.
Keeping his fans in the loop about his trip, Nyovest took to Twitter and shared details about the glorious night that saw him mingle with the iconic American rapper Busta Rhymes.
“Last night was a crazy London edition. Honoured an invite from a friend, and I turned it into a legendary night. Not only did I party with my dude Dave Chappelle but got lit Chris Rock, Busta Rhymes, Giggs, Talib Kweli, Mos Def, Derek Chisora and Splif. No cameras, so I have no picture.”
“When I met Busta, he ain't know me, so he pushed me to the side. I moved respectfully. That's when Dave Chappelle let him know who I was. Busta's energy changed immediately. He then told his crazy story about meeting me through Swizzy and how I influenced his next album. Madness.”
The ‘Mama I Made It’ hitmaker further spoke about how this whole experience was a dream come true for him.
‘’Me and Busta chopped it up so long that we ended up being the last two people to leave the club. Great fucking night, great f***ing energy, partied with my idols. Dreams come true. God is good,“ tweeted Cassper.
This was received with criticism as some people refused to believe him, while others believed that the music star did meet up with his idols, as he claims.
Cassper Nyovest adds to the list of artists like Uncle Waffles, DBN Gogo, Nomcebo, Makhadzi, Black Coffee, Major League DJs, Shimza, Young Stunna, among many others who have shown how other local artists can break barriers and dominate other spaces outside the South African borders.
