The father of the Grade 7 boy from Wilhelmina Hoskins Primary School in Riverlea, Angelo Jordan, said his son was shot eight times.

The Grade 7 pupil was shot at his family’s home on Saturday by unknown suspects.

However, Jordan alleges that his son was murdered by men who believed that he might have been part of what seems to be a local gang, the Varados.

Speaking to “Kaya News”, Jordan said he had been threatened by the suspects for weeks.

“There were guys that were threatening me before they shot my son, and it has been going on for weeks.

“They pick out guns. On Saturday night, just before they shot my son, I walked up in the street going to the other side I normally go with my friends.

“These guys were standing in the street and said, ‘he’s one of the Varados. If he goes around the corner, we are going to go after him’. I did not worry about it,” said Jordan.

Shortly after facing threats from the suspects, gunshots were heard while he was visiting his friend.

Prior to the murder, Jordan detailed that the pupil was accompanied by a friend on his way home from Riverlea Primary School across a railway.

“These people left by Riverlea Primary School across the railway. They were chasing the children from there up until they shot my son. They shot my son eight times. For what reason? What did my son do because he is an innocent boy,” said Jordan.

Gauteng Department of Education officials are expected to visit the family of the deceased learner later on Tuesday
