Johannesburg - Joburg’s premier waterfront dining and lifestyle venue, Altitude Beach, is celebrating its three-year milestone since its establishment and continues to go from strength to strength as one of the major experiences in the country.
Located in the heart of the North at Fourways Mall, this lifestyle venue is known not only for its grand appeal but also for its aesthetically pleasing surroundings that beg visitors to go back.
With Altitude Beach known as a hub of entertainment, they have also hosted an endless list of Mzansi’s A-listers for different exhilarating occasions.
Jo Bodiba, the manager of Altitude Beach, unpacked their journey.
Bodiba explained how the journey has not been smooth sailing throughout the years, but the rewards have been most fulfilling.
"It’s safe to say we are definitely the sexiest venue in Joburg. We do not have an actual beach, but with the amount of vibes we bring, it’s always an occasion. The journey has been one of hard work, blood, sweat, and tears, but the rewards are inexplicable and so fulfilling. We literally are the puppet masters of a show we put on week in and week out, and never leave guests disappointed," said Bodiba.
She pointed out COVID-19 as one of the biggest challenges they encountered as a business.
"Our toughest period was obviously keeping the doors open during Covid, and ensuring they stay open. A challenge and hardship any business should never have to face."
Bodiba said their calendar for November and December is already packed with the hottest talent that Mzansi has.
"We operate from Friday to Sunday, and I can honestly tell you that each day had an offering for someone. Our November and December calendars are pretty much full, and they are specced with any of SA’s hottest talent you can think of," she said.
Asked about thrilling events that people can look forward to, she said they have a bucketful.
"Shoo, I have so many. I think one of the main ones is seeing how we can transform the venue into anything we want. So having seen the different production set-ups from staging to lights and entertainment and different elements is insane. Working with the best in the business has also been an adventure, not to mention the team. We are a big team and have lots of departments, but we all come together easily as one.
"Growth for me can never be linear, so that means for me, expanding. Whether it’s on my own or with the group, all I’m going to say for now is to watch this space."
