Lungelihle Zwane, fondly known as Uncle Waffles, has made history as the first DJ to headline at the Wireless Festival in London, England, after eight years.

Zwane, who has been making substantial strides in her musical career, enthralled thousands of festival-goers with an outstanding show that has been lauded across various platforms.

Many of her followers are celebrating the significant career milestone of the multi-platinum worldwide DJ-producer, whose name has been trending on social media.

Uncle Waffles also took to social media to share her excitement and said: “Uncle Waffles the only DJ headliner, the first DJ to headline in 8 years. Only Amapiano act. And I know there are soooo many more to come. Thank you, @wireless baeeeeeeeee omgggggggggg. So much to share. Amapiano to the world.”

This event happened after internationally acclaimed star Drake revealed that he would be attending her debut set to take place in Toronto, Canada, in August.

“TORONTOOOOOOOO! For the first time. We have a date! We love Waffles Headline Show on 1st August Tickets linked in bio. Be prepared for a showwww babiess,’’ said Zwane, revealing the details of the show.

“I’ll be there,” stated Drake in reaction to a post that went viral on social media.

Uncle Waffles has also recently released a new song titled “Wadibusa”, featuring Royal MusiQ, Ohp Sage, Pcee, and Djy Biza, showcasing her iconic upbeat dance rhythms that gained her fame.

She was also among the local pioneers who were spotlighted in June for their influence in the music industry, having taken amapiano beyond South African shores.

Among the highlights that took social media by storm was her “Yahyuppiyah” TikTok challenge that was joined by American singer and dancer Ciara.

The genre’s growing popularity in the US and influence on American pop culture highlight its global significance and showcases the talent of young South African music creators.

Uncle Waffles has been a global star since her song “Adiwele” at Zone-6 went viral in 2021.

She has performed on major music stages all over the world, had multiple award nominations, and most recently was appointed as the renowned Coca-Cola Wozzaah campaign ambassador.
