The Peninsula All-Suite Hotel can be described as luxury apartment living at it’s best. Set in the perfect location - at the end of Sea Point, with Lion’s Head as the backdrop, overlooking Queens Beach with uninterrupted views of the Atlantic Ocean, this 4 star hotel is the perfect place to take a break and enjoy the best of what Cape Town has to offer.
It is within easy distance of the city’s best bars and restaurants and a mere 15 minutes' drive away from the CBD.
I am always looking out for family-friendly resorts that can accommodate my 4-year-old twin daughters and although there are no primary colours or cartoon characters here, the slick, minimalist aesthetics in the suites makes it one of the most family-friendly finds around. This truly is a soothing solution for deranged parents needing rest and sunshine in a stylish environment.
The suites are spacious with contemporary decor.
The reception area is an airy, well-designed lobby lounge, which leads into the 2 restaurants - Sunset and Strolla Restaurant.
Family dining is taken up another notch in Strolla, where you'll find a new kind of dining concept-cocktail-bar vibe that spills out onto the trendy Sunset Deck. Although the interior of Strolla is classy it is extremely child-friendly and has a brilliant kids club. My kids were happy to spend hours under the watchful eye with the fabulous caregiver, leaving us with time to relax and enjoy the hotel.
The spacious lounge and reception area.
The Peninsula’s 110 en-suite suites all offer magnificent views of the Atlantic Ocean.
The suites all include fully fitted open plan kitchens - essential for family holidays, satellite TV and WiFi.
We stayed in the luxurious Royal Suite, with 3 bedrooms, open plan kitchen, lounge and dining area. Our 3 bedroomed corner suite had impressive mountain and sea facing views.
The spacious living area opens up onto a glass conservatory which serves as a dining room overlooks Queens Beach.
The ultimate treat is the upstairs deck with a built-in gas braai, covered dining area and jacuzzi - again with stupendous ocean views. Sheltered from the wind, it is the perfect place to enjoy al fresco dining whilst chilling on the sun loungers after relaxing in the jacuzzi. We spent hours in the jacuzzi, enjoying the views from one of Cape Town’s most desirable locations.
The spacious main bedroom with crisp white linens leads onto the en-suite bathroom with spa bath.
The second and third bedrooms both have two single beds and there is a sleeper couch in an interleading sitting room - essentially making it an 8-sleeper apartment.
For a family escape, this is a perfect option as it allows for flexibility in all areas. The hotel also offers the option of grocery shopping - one just has to email the hotel your grocery list 3 days prior to arrival and your groceries will be delivered to your room - making for a stress-free arrival.
Our suite included a scrumptious breakfast buffet at Sunset Restaurant.
The outdoor pool and Sunset patio where guests can soak up the sun.
We loved the relaxing ambience of the hotel and its restaurants and it is a clear favourite amongst locals who arrived to catch-up for coffee and cocktails in the winter sun on the outside deck.
There is live music on Saturday afternoons which adds to festive vibe and makes for the perfect sundowner spot for everyone to enjoy.
All in all - The Peninsula is a great destination for family’s, groups and business travellers.
