Cape Town - Award winning microbrewery, Darling Brew, which is situated in the quaint town of Darling on the Cape West Coast, has completed work on their exciting new purpose-built brewery, which will be open to the public – in time for the festive season.
This must-visit new Darling Brew Tasteroom & Brewery offers a fantastic day out and was developed to allow an all in one Darling Brew experience.
In addition to a new state of the art brewery with an increased capacity, the new premises offers an interactive and fascinating beer tasting experience, in a tasting room which overlooks the working brewery. Visitors can enjoy delicious meals made from fresh, organic, seasonal and locally sourced ingredients from a nearby restaurant, which overlooks beautiful gardens and a play area for the kids –perfect for young families. There is also plenty of parking available.
Darling Brew visitors can enjoy a proudly South African braai (barbecue) menu indoors or outside in the garden, and beer lovers can enjoy the Darling Brew craft beers with a selection of light meals. For beer novices there is also a beginners beer tasting which goes perfectly with a platter for two.
Slow down and taste the beer with modern industrial architecture that is in keeping with the area in which the brewery is situated, Darling Brew’s new brewery embodies the Darling Brew slogan “Slow Beer” – which was developed by owners Kevin and Philippa Wood, who wanted to complement and represent the slower paced lifestyle of the area by harnessing an unhurried fermentation process.
Darling Brew’s list of carefully crafted beers, which fall under the categories of Pale Ale, Indian Pale Ale, Wit Beer and Light Lager, have been named after endangered or misunderstood South African wildlife - with the Slow Beer being named after the Geometric -Tortoise, Black Mist named after the Verreaux Eagle, and Silver Back named after the Honey Badger Visitors are recommended to try their limited only beers that include Gypsy Mask, Thunder Bird and Sungazer, as well as their regular beers.
Darling is only 76km’s away from Cape Town and an easy drive on the R27 or N7 highways. Located in the important Cape West Coast Biodiversity Corridor, there are a myriad of attractions available in the area - ranging from flowers and bird watching in the surrounding nature reserves, to mountain biking, hiking, art, a treasure hunt departing from Darling Museumor tasting the world class wines available in the area.
