Get into the festive spirit at the V&A Waterfront, which has extended shopping hours, gift wrapping stations, choirs and, of course, Santa Claus.
Trading hours at the V&A Waterfront will be extended from 9am till 10pm daily up to Christmas Eve, ensuring visitors can shop to their hearts’ content until later in the evenings or earlier in the morning to avoid the crowds. The Waterfront’s home of craft and design, the Watershed, will be open from 10am to 8pm daily until Wednesday, and 10am till 5pm on Christmas Eve.
Cape Town charities will benefit from the proceeds of four gift wrapping stations, three within the Victoria Wharf Shopping Centre and one in the Watershed. The charities include The Haven Night Shelter in Napier Street, the Home of Hope in Table View, TEARS Animal Rescue in Sunnydale, Nazareth House in Vredehoek and Atlantic Hope in Sea Point.
Santa Claus has taken up residence in the Victoria Wharf Centre Court, where he will be listening to children’s requests until Christmas Eve.
Lovers of big bands and Christmas songs will appreciate the choristers and Christmas bands scheduled to ring in the festive season at the V&A Amphitheatre as the countdown to Christmas speeds up.
The Salvation Army Band takes the stage at 6pm on Wednesday. With a proud musical history that extends over 100 years, the Salvation Army Band has produced many musicians, including Hugh Masekela.
The organisation reaches out to youngsters to offer them an alternative to challenges such as drug addiction and poverty.
Wrapping up the Amphitheatre festive season entertainment will be the Cape Town Gospel Choir, at 7.15pm on Wednesday.
