Mom and Dad can enjoy a wine tasting of Val du Charron’s award-winning wines and cellar tour while the children clamber on the jungle gym.

There are also plenty of activities in the area to keep all entertained.

There is horse riding in the vineyards, spa treatments to indulge in, petrol heads will love the Old Tannery car museum, a visit to the Wellington museum is informative for young and old and the rescued animals at the Drakenstein Lion Park are a firm favourite with families.

Look out for live shows at the Bôrdienghuis Teater and get your culture on with a visit to the Breytenbach Art Centre.

If Dad is lucky, he might even be able to sneak in a round of golf at Wellington’s nine-hole course.

A drive up the historic and breathtaking Bainskloof Pass, perhaps with a stop for some wild swimming in the crystal clear pools, is a full day’s adventure to be enjoyed.

Last-minute Christmas shopping is a pleasure at the numerous fares in the valley as well as at Redemption Leather, the Continental China shop and Glodina towels.

Christmas and Old Year’s Eve are always special events on the farm. Christmas lunch is a buffet feast for all to enjoy, complete with decorations and Christmas trees.

Grab your cowboy hat and boots as the Grillroom prepares to rock out the old year with live music and décor to match the theme.

With all this going on, take a breath and enjoy the spectacular Hawekwa mountains and vineyards are the insta-worthy backdrop for those family festive year-end pics promising tranquillity and beauty for the year to come.
