Teyana Taylor celebrates six NAACP nominations and her first Oscar nod in 2026

Teyana Taylor is having the best start to 2026 after winning her first Golden Globe award and now being an Oscar nominee.

It's not even a full month into 2026, and it is quickly proving to be Teyana Taylor’s year because she received six nods at the upcoming 2026 NAACP Awards (National Association for the Advancement of Colored People) and has also been nominated for her first Oscar award!

Just a week ago, the “All’s Fair” actress was celebrating her first Golden Globe award and trended across every social media platform as she trended across every social media platform, with her fans across the world celebrating with her.

She won Best Supporting Actress – Motion Picture for her role as Perfidia in the film "One Battle After Another". 

Now this week, the singer excitedly shared that she received six outstanding nominations at the NAACP awards, and while she was celebrating those nominations, the nominees list for the 2026 Oscars was revealed and guess who is a part of the list?

Yes, that’s right, Taylor has been nominated under the category of Best Supporting Actress for her role in “One Battle After Another”.

This might just be the perfect definition of starting the year with a bang!

In a statement shared by multiple news outlets, Taylor expressed how she felt about being an Oscar nominee.

“To be an Academy Award nominee is beyond anything I ever allowed myself to fully believe was possible. 

“I am so deeply emotional, so humbled, and so grateful for every person who has walked this road with me & honoured to be nominated alongside these amazing women in my category,” she said.

Taylor debuted her acting career in 2010 on “Stomp The Yard: Homecoming.” Since then, she appeared in the famous “Madea Big Happy Family” film in 2011.

In addition, she also appeared in other movies, including “A Thousand and One” and “Coming 2 America”.

Besides her role on “One Battle After Another” as Perfidia Beverly Hills, she also appeared in multiple movies and series that were released in 2025.

She played the role of Kay Raymond on Netflix’s “Straw”, a compassionate detective who empathised with a single mother whose world was filled with chaos as she struggled to make ends meet to take care of her ill daughter.

Taylor also played the role of Milan, an aspiring lawyer who works at a law firm that is led by women only.

While she will also appear in a 2026 film called “The Rip” and portray the role of Detective Numa Baptiste, who is a part of a group of police officers in the narcotics unit.

Not only is she receiving nods left, right and centre, but she has also made the cover of “Vanity Fair” for their January issue.

One thing we are never going to forget is how she is also making waves in the fashion world, because one thing Taylor does best is serve iconic red carpet looks!

Whether it is press tours for movies, attending awards shows or interviews, the 35-year-old knows how to turn a questionable piece of clothing into a couture look that will leave tongues wagging for weeks!

Even though acting is currently putting her in the spotlight, we are totally not gonna forget that she is an amazing and talented singer.

In 2025, she received her first-ever Grammy nomination for Best RnB album for her album "Escape Room".

In the music industry, Taylor has received recognition for her artistry, including several awards at the BET Awards, MTV VMAs and the Soul Train Awards.

You would think that acting and singing would be enough for Taylor, but it’s definitely not because she’s also a choreographer and has helped so many artists by providing them with some fire moves for their tours.

She is also a reality TV star and once released a show called “We Got Love: Teyana and Iman” that gave fans an inside look into how she navigates life as a mom, wife and singer.
