Afrobeats superstar Asake has teamed up with legendary EDM producer DJ Snake for his latest single, “Worship”, a track that feels like a high-octane prayer.
The timing couldn't be more poignant; the song arrives just ahead of Saturday’s (March 21) Eid celebrations. For Asake, who is a devout Muslim, the track serves as a deeply personal reflection of faith during one of the most significant moments on the Islamic calendar.
First debuted during Asake’s historic Red Bull Symphonic performance, where he became the first African artist to lead the orchestral event in the US, the studio version finally brings this massive energy to our ears.
The song is a cross-cultural fusion that blends the soulful, spiritual essence of Lagos with pulsating Paris.
Over DJ Snake’s hypnotic beats, Asake anchors the track with an emotional delivery, singing, “Alhamdulillahi, praise be to God. No matter your conditions. Forget all your losses. Something must go before something comes. It is work, not luck ... Even in darkness, even in brightness, you are with me.”
It is a raw ode to resilience and gratitude to God, wrapped in a sound meant to fill stadiums.
“Working with DJ Snake allowed us to create a song that feels universal,” Asake explains.
“It represents the energy we feel when we connect to something greater than ourselves. I wanted the video to let the music speak for itself.”
The accompanying music video leans heavily into this sense of peace. Dressed in all white against a serene beach backdrop, Asake trades his usual high-energy spectacle for a moment of quiet communion.
It is a striking contrast to his meteoric rise, which has seen him dominate the Billboard US Afrobeats Songs chart with a record-breaking 62 entries.
Meanwhile, DJ Snake shared that the collaboration was born out of a shared headspace.
"The track communicates how we both feel right now. Same energy. Asake came with the vibe he’s known for, and I didn’t want to overthink it. We just made something honest, something people can feel everywhere."
As the most-streamed artist on Spotify Nigeria, Asake is currently riding a wave of momentum following his "Real, Vol. 1" EP with Wizkid, which was released in January, and features songs like "Turbulence", "Jogodo", "Iskolodo" and "Alaye".
“Worship” serves as a teaser for his highly-anticipated upcoming album, "Money", and is available on all music streaming platforms.
